Getting started

What is Clear?

Clear scans your skin, gives you a Clarity score and builds a routine around what it finds. It also checks products against your skin and answers your questions in Ask Clear. It offers general skincare guidance, not medical advice.

What do I need to use Clear?

An iPhone on iOS 26.2 or later. Clear is for ages 13 and up, and anyone under 18 needs permission from a parent or guardian. The app is available in English, Spanish, French, German and Portuguese. You can change the language in Profile, under Language.

What’s free, and what needs a subscription?

Your first scan and Clarity score are free, one per iPhone. Your routine, the product scanner, Ask Clear and progress scans need a subscription.

Do I need an account?

Yes, to save your results. You sign in with Apple or Google after you subscribe. If you use Apple’s Hide My Email, Clear only gets a private relay address.

Scans

How do I get a good scan?
  • Face a window or a bright lamp, and avoid strong light behind you.
  • Keep hair off your face and take sunglasses off. Clear glasses are fine.
  • Hold your phone steady at eye level.
  • Hold still for the front photo, then move your head slowly and follow each arrow.

Clear checks your light and position while you scan and tells you what to change.

My scan isn’t working

If the camera won’t open, turn on camera access for Clear in iPhone Settings. If a photo comes out too dark or blurry, move closer to a window, hold still at each side and try again. Still stuck? Email us and tell us what you see on screen.

What is the Clarity score?

It’s a summary of how your skin looks in your scan, based on things like breakouts, marks, redness and texture. It only compares you with yourself, so use it to see your own progress over time. It isn’t a medical measure.

How often should I scan?

Clear adds a progress scan to your Home screen when it’s time, usually about every two weeks. Your skin needs time to respond to a routine, so scanning more often won’t tell you much. You can see past scans in Progress.

Your routine

How do streaks work?

A day counts when every routine due that day is done: morning, night and any treatment due. Your day ends at 3 am, so a late night still counts. You get one free missed day every 7 days, and your streak stays safe.

How do I change my reminders?

In Profile, go to Preferences, then Routine reminders. You can also turn notifications on or off for Clear in iPhone Settings.

I’m pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to get pregnant

Tell Clear during setup or in Ask Clear, and your routine will leave out retinoids. Check any skincare choices with your doctor too.

Products

How do I scan a product?

Tap the Scan button and choose Product, then point your camera at the label. You can also choose a photo, or share a product page or screenshot to Clear from another app.

What does the skin match mean?

It shows how well a product fits your skin, goals and routine. The color tells you how closely it matches your profile, not whether it’s safe. Always read the label and patch test new products.

A product is missing or wrong

On the product’s page, tap Report a problem. If the scanner doesn’t recognize a product, you can choose to send us the photo so we can add it. You can also email us the product name and a photo of the label.

Why is a price different at the store?

Prices and availability come from stores and can change, so a price in Clear may be slightly out of date. The store’s price is the one you’ll pay. Store links aren’t affiliate links today, and purchases happen with the store.

Ask Clear

What can Ask Clear do?

It answers skincare questions using your scan, routine and products. You can attach photos, and it can search the web and show its sources. AI can make mistakes, so don’t rely on it for medical decisions.

Is there a limit on Ask Clear?

Yes. There’s a fair-use allowance each day and each month, plus a daily limit on photos. If you reach it, Ask Clear lets you know, and your monthly allowance resets on its own.

How do I make Ask Clear forget something?

Ask Clear saves short notes, like a sensitivity to fragrance. To remove one, tell Ask Clear to forget it. Deleting your account removes everything it saved.

Subscription and billing

How much does Clear cost?

Clear is $49.99 a year with a 7-day free trial, or $4.99 a week. The exact price is shown in the app before you buy.

How do I cancel?

Apple handles all Clear subscriptions, so you cancel with Apple. In Clear, go to Profile, then Manage subscription. Or open iPhone Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose Clear. You can also manage it on Apple’s website.

Cancel at least 24 hours before your trial or billing period ends to avoid the next charge. Deleting your account or the app doesn’t cancel your subscription.

When does my free trial end?

Profile shows the date your trial ends. Clear also sends a reminder two days before if notifications are on. You’ll be charged when the trial ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before.

How do I get a refund?

Apple handles payments, so refunds go through Apple. We can’t see your card or issue refunds ourselves. Request a refund from Apple.

How do I restore my purchase?

Open Clear, go to the subscription screen and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you’re signed in with the same Apple ID you used to buy.

Can I manage my subscription on the Clear website?

No. Clear subscriptions are held by Apple, so only Apple can change or cancel them. Apple’s subscriptions page works from any browser.

Your account and data

I got a new phone

Sign in with the same Apple or Google account and your results, routine and products come back. Your scan photos won’t. They’re kept on your old phone and left out of backups to protect your privacy.

What happens to my photos?

Your scan photos are saved on your phone and sent to our AI provider only to analyze your skin. They’re never sold or used for ads. The Privacy Policy has the full details.

How do I delete my account?

In Clear, go to Profile and choose Delete account. This removes your account, photos and data, and it can’t be undone. It doesn’t cancel your subscription, so cancel that with Apple too. If you can’t get into the app, email us from your account’s email address.

Can Clear diagnose a skin condition?

No. Clear gives general skincare guidance and doesn’t diagnose or treat any condition. For a skin condition, a sudden change or anything that worries you, talk to a doctor or dermatologist.
